Monroe Parks

A BETTER PLACE TO PLAY IS ON THE WAY

Monroe is continuing its commitment to building a City where every child belongs. Following the success of the Sister Margaret Ann Sanders-Jackson inclusive playground at Benoit Recreation Center in District 5, plans are underway to bring a second inclusive play space to Forsythe Park. This next step reflects a broader vision of investing in every neighborhood and creating spaces rooted in access, dignity, and inclusion for children of all abilities.

This project is powered by a community that cares, with support from partners like Miracles to Milestones and the John Clarke Perry Foundation. Together, Monroe is turning momentum into meaningful progress because when every child has a place to play, the entire community grows stronger.

Parks & Recreation Master Plan

The City of Monroe has partnered with CARBO Landscape Architecture to enhance the beauty and functionality of Monroe’s largest parks: Charles Johnson Park, Chennault Park, and Forsythe Park. By seeking input from local residents and collaborating with other designers, a Master Plan has been developed to guide the parks’ improvements. This plan will harmonize with surrounding neighborhood advancements to create a vibrant and welcoming community space.
